3 easy steps for reliable testing results

"WARNING: The results of this test are not a guarantee that the tested substance can be safely consumed. Even if the results of the test are negative for tested substance intended to be tested as indicated by the pouched strip (SAFE - fentanyl, SAFe-X - xylazine, and SAFe-B - benzodiazepines) anyone consuming the tested substance could overdose, sustain severe injury, or die. Failure to follow the instructions could result in false positive or false negative test results. The instructions are only for SAFE, SAFe-X, and SAFe-B tests, and you should not use them for any other test.

Transfer a small amount* of substance into a container. Add a teaspoon of water and mix carefully.

Dip the bottom of the SAFE strip into the water for 15 seconds.

Lay strip on a flat surface. Read results at 5 minutes.

Read the results carefully.

The results of the SAFE test are not a guarantee that the tested substance can be safely consumed. No tested substance is completely safe for consumption, there is always a risk of overdose, injury, or death. Even if the results of the SAFE test are negative for fentanyl, anyone consuming the tested substance could overdose, sustain severe injury, or die.

HOW DO I RECOGNIZE AN OVERDOSE?

• Small, constricted “pinpoint pupils”
• Falling asleep or loss of consciousness. Slow, shallow breathing
• Choking or gurgling sounds
• Limp body
• Pale, blue, or cold skin
• Because this list is not exhaustive, call 911 or seek immediate medical attention if you think you or someone else has overdosed or is at risk of overdose. 

PRECAUTIONS
• For use at agencies that federally funded by the US Government for Harm Reduction. Do not use after the expiration date.
• For individually packed test, the test should remain in the sealed pouch until use.
• The used test should be discarded according to local regulations.
• Please read all the information in this package insert before performing the test.
• Any serious incident has occurred in relation to this test should be reported and the competent authority of the Member State in which the user and/or the patient is established.
• Read, understand, and follow the instructions on, your failure to do so could result in false positive or false negative test results, severe injury or death.
• Even if the results of the test are negative for fentanyl, anyone consuming the tested substance could overdose, sustain severe injury, or die.
• Do not consume illicit drugs, especially if you suspect that they contain, or the result is positive for, the intended drug being tested as shown on the pouch.
• This test does not detect the presence of substances other than the one shown on the pouch, and it does not detect all forms of that substance. This test does not detect the percentage of the substance printed on the pouch present in the material tested.
• Exposure to even small amounts of fentanyl and/or xylazine, or handling of fentanyl and/or xylazine, can cause severe injury or death.
• When testing a substance, use protective equipment, such as gloves and eye protection.
• Do not use the test after expiration or if the packaging is damaged or shows other signs of tampering.
• Dispose of the test in accordance with applicable law.
• Anyone using the test accepts all responsibility for any injury, death, criminal penalty, or civil liability that occurs from consumption of a substance, whether an illicit drug or not, and regardless of whether the substance was tested, or was not tested, for fentanyl.
• Call 911 or seek immediate medical attention if you think you or someone else has overdosed or is at risk of overdose. Common signs of an overdose are listed in the “How do I recognize an overdose?” section.
